Privacy policy

We collect as little as possible. This page explains what we do collect and why.

Last updated: 31 October 2026

Summary

  • You can use Media Extractor without an account.
  • The extractor runs in your own browser. We don't store the pages you scan or the files you download.
  • When you scan by URL, the address is sent to a third-party CORS proxy so your browser can read the page (details below).
  • Our hosting provider keeps standard access logs for a short time for security.
  • Third-party advertising partners (such as Google) may use cookies to show ads. You can control this as described below.

Information we process

How the tool processes data

Media Extractor is a browser-based tool. The page source is read, media links are found, and ZIP archives are built by JavaScript running on your own device. Results stay in your browser tab and disappear when you close it. We have no database of scans.

URLs you scan (third-party proxies)

Browsers don't let one website read another website's pages directly. To make URL scanning possible, the address you enter is requested through a public “CORS proxy” service, currently AllOrigins, corsproxy.io or CodeTabs. The proxy receives the URL you scan and your IP address, and handles them under its own privacy policy. A proxy may also be used to fetch a file when the original site blocks a direct download. If you prefer not to use a proxy, use the Paste HTML or Bookmarklet modes, which work entirely on your device.

Files you download

Downloads go from the original website (or the proxy) straight to your device. We never receive or keep a copy.

Hosting logs

Like nearly every website, our hosting records technical data such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. We use it to keep the service secure and working, for example to block abuse. Logs are deleted automatically after at most 30 days.

Messages you send us

If you email us, we keep your message and email address so we can reply and follow up. We don't add you to mailing lists.

Cookies and advertising

Media Extractor itself does not need cookies to work. The site may show ads served by Google and its partners. These third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites.

Where the law requires it, for example for visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland, a consent message will ask for your choice before personalised ads are shown.

Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting analytics to count visits and see which features are used. This data is aggregated and is not used to identify you.

Sharing

We don't sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers who help us run the site (hosting, advertising, and the CORS proxies described above), or when the law requires it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the GDPR, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you. To make a request, contact us.

Children

The service is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be noted on the home page.
